Positive: Terrific value for money, our twin bed room in the main building was much larger than rooms we’ve paid twice the amount for elsewhere in Japan and the towels were big and fluffy. There is a small onsen with an outdoor and indoor bath, both of which are together for private use and a lovely range of yukatas to choose from for the onsen or relaxing in your room. A small lounge area is also available for relaxing. We really liked the location, just 15 mins walk from Hirano and the lakeside beach. The owner/manager was lovely and looked after everyone very well. For us, it was a little bit of a disappointment that breakfast was a Western style egg and sausage rather than Japanese style but I suspect it’s what most visitors prefer. If you’re looking to eat out, we found Tom Dog, two minutes walk away, cheap and filling. Note though that it is a smoking establishment
Negative: Be prepared for the tiniest of bathrooms. My 6ft partner found it almost impossible to use the loo. There’s one for general use just down the hall if you have the same problem.
Summary: A lovely welcome in this very good value guesthouse.

Positive: The staff was extremely welcoming, allowed us early check-in, and even upgraded our room, when we ended up having one more person than planned. Rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet. We were also welcomed into the restaurant at all hours, which was much appreciated. We also enjoyed the atmosphere of the ryotenburo. Location close enough to Yamanakako to enjoy a swim! Breakfast was also nice. :)
Negative: However, ladies outdoor bath was not working quite right. I wondered if it was actually onsen as advertised?? Not sure. Still, enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
Summary: Friendly staff, met all our needs, with comfortable, clean and spacious rooms, close to nature

Positive: Fabulous location, with a view of Mount Fuji from my room and my own private onsen bath! Lovely room with evrything I needed, and the two gentlemen running the hotel made my stay very special. I got off the bus at the wrong spot, to find they'd already messaged to offer to pick me up. In spite of it taking some time for them to find me, they offered to stop at the local shop so I could buy food (It was late at night). They went to great lengths to make a vegetarian breakfast for me, and took me to the bus station when I left. I had an absolutely wonderful relaxing time!
Negative: Everything was great! No complaints at all.
Summary: Fabulous hotel at a peaceful spot, with onsen baths and a view of Mount Fuji! And wonderful owners.

Positive: The staff is amazingly kind and hospitable. The place is great. The springbath is awesome. We enjoyed the massage after our bath. The breakfast os exceptionally great especially the croissants.

Positive: The place was lovely, and we were warmly welcomed by the host at arrival. The host is friendly, attentive and the place had a view of Mt Fuji from the breakfast table. Strongly recommend! Private bath was truly a gem.
Negative: The house is old, so the AC, toilet, and the fridge etc were very old and could be renewed.
